POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- United Way of the Dutchess-Orange Region has added a half-dozen new members to its board of directors while promoting several others, the charitable organization announced Friday.

Hyde Park Restaurant Gives Family With Autistic Child Special Night Out
LAGRANGEVILLE, .N.Y. -- For Katelyn Bronzi, whose brother has autism, her only birthday wish was to have a family night out for dinner.
Because of her brother Stevie's autism, the family, which lives in Lagrangeville, had never been able to go to a restaurant before.
"He has impulsive behaviors so going out in public places can be disastrous for us," said Nicole Bronzi, Stevie's mother.

Hudson Valley Native Makes History At Army
Earlier this year, New City native Brig. Gen.Cindy Jebb, made history when she was confirmed by the U.S. Senate as the first woman to serve as academic dean at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point.
Jebb, who attended Clarkstown South High School in West Nyack, is also a member of the Council on Foreign Relations.
As a former member of the social sciences department at West Point, she has taught courses in comparative politics, international security, cultural anthropology, terrorism and counterterrorism, and officership.

RED HOOK, N.Y. -- At a time when most people viewed libraries as diminishing in community appeal and influence, Erica Freudenberger thought differently as she took over as the director of the Red Hook Library in 2010.
Through innovation, collaboration, creativity and dogged determination, Freudenberger has transformed the library, and by extension, the community. Last year, Red Hook Library was named a finalist for the Library Journal’s Best Small Library in America Award. The library received a $10,000 grant with the award.
