5 Nabbed On Gun Charges In Hudson Valley During Traffic Stop, Police Say
Five residents in the region, including three juveniles, were nabbed on alleged gun charges during a routine traffic stop.
The incident occurred in Orange County around 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 16, on I-84 in Deerpark.
According to New York State Police Trooper Steven Nevel, troopers initiated a traffic stop and identified the driver as Orange County resident Jaykris Vargas, age 23, of Middletown.
While interviewing Vargas, troopers developed probable cause to search the vehicle. While searching the car, they located a loaded semi-automatic handgun, Nevel said.

An alleged Hudson Valley fentanyl and cocaine dealer was busted with drugs and a ghost gun during a warrant search of his home.
Dutchess County resident George Cintron, age 37, of Beacon, was arrested on Thursday, Oct. 17, by members of the Dutchess County District Attorney’s Office Drug Task Force,
According to Det. Sgt. Adam Harris of the task force, Cintron, had been the subject of an investigation into sales of cocaine and fentanyl in the city of Beacon.

Dutchess County Man Nabbed For Attempted Murder In Stabbing Incident, Police Say
A person residing in the region was nabbed for alleged attempted murder in a stabbing incident that seriously wounded another man.
The attack occurred in Dutchess County at 1 a.m. Sunday, June 30, in the area of Smith and Mansion Streets in Poughkeepsie.
According to the Poughkeepsie Police, on Thursday, Oct. 17, members of the Neighborhood Recovery Unit, Detective Bureau, and Patrol Division located and arrested Rushaan Francis, age 27, of Poughkeepsie, in connection with the June 30 stabbing.

A Pennsylvania family was mourning the death of a father and Hudson Valley native who was killed on the New Jersey Turnpike.
Colin Mahon of Newtown Square, PA, died in a chain-reaction crash in Cranbury, NJ, on Tuesday, Oct. 8, a New Jersey State Police spokesperson said. The father of three children was 40 years old, according to his obituary from Donohue Funeral Homes.
