A lucky lottery player in Westchester County is more than $18,000 richer after scoring a top-prize win.
A Take 5 ticket sold in Yonkers won $18,183.50 in the Wednesday, Sept. 9 midday drawing, the New York Lottery announced.
The winning ticket was purchased at the Shell gas station located at 414 McLean Ave. in Yonkers.
The winning numbers were 2, 3, 8, 23, 36, according to lottery officials.
Take 5 numbers are drawn from a field of one through 39, with drawings held twice daily at 2:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m.
Suffolk Faculty Art Exhibition Opens Sept. 15 In Brentwood
Suffolk County Community College will open its 2026 Visual Arts Faculty Exhibition in Brentwood on Tuesday, Sept. 15.
According to Suffolk County Community College, the exhibition will run through Monday, Oct. 26, at the Sagtikos Art Gallery on the Michael J. Grant Campus. The gallery is in Room 150 of the Sagtikos Arts and Science Building.
The annual show features work by the college’s Visual Arts faculty, including painting, sculpture, photography, video, digital art, and installation.

Central Connecticut State University will host a free community forum in New Britain marking 25 years since the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks.
According to Central Connecticut State University, “What Does 9/11 Mean, 25 Years Later?” will be held Saturday, Sept. 12, at Torp Theater in Davidson Hall.
The program will include a screening of the short documentary “The 9/11 Generation,” a reading of the poem “Tower One,” and a community conversation with people who remember where they were on Sept. 11, 2001.
Dr. Matthew Warshauer, professor of history, will facilitate the discussion.

A teen boy was rescued from an overturned boat in the Bering Sea after surviving for days without food or water while his brother and cousin died, officials said.
Derek Parker Aghnaanga was found sitting on top of a capsized skiff about four miles east of St. Lawrence Island, Alaska, on Monday, Sept. 7, the Coast Guard said in a news release. The 15-year-old had been fishing for halibut with his older brother and cousin when the small boat overturned.

A shoplifting trio stole $30,000 worth of cosmetics from three CVS locations across Long Island, police said Friday, Sept. 11.
Two men and one woman hit CVS in Bayport on Sunday, Aug. 23, then robbed a CVS in Halesite and a CVS in Nesconset the following Sunday, Aug. 30, the Suffolk County Police Department said.
In each robbery, the suspects targeted the stores’ cosmetic departments and stole around $30,000 worth of merchandise in total, according to investigators.
