Beacon Resident Finishes Second On 'Jeopardy!'
BEACON, N.Y. -- Scott Bateman's run on 'Jeopardy!' has ended after two days.
Bateman, a Beacon filmmaker and author, who won $28,001 on Wednesday, finished in second place on Thursday night, done in by not knowing a question about Dante's "Inferno."
The Beacon resident got off to a fast start. He knew that the northernmost places in Norway didn't have sunlight for two months, Sears and Caterpillar were headquartered in Illinois and on a Daily Double, he wagered all his money, correctly guessing that Berkshire Hathaway is based in Nebraska.

Dutchess Car Cruisers Share Love For Charity, Cars, Family Atmosphere
BEACON, N.Y. -- Daily Voice dropped by the Beacon Elks Club for a Dutchess Cruisers Car Cruise event Friday night, and what we found was a group with three things in common: a love of helping people, a love of cars, and a love of community and camaraderie.
Dutchess Cruisers, a non-profit group, became a club in 2000, and donates all extra money to charities, including the Veteran's Administration, the American Heart Association and the Alzheimer's Association.

Dutchess Cashier Hit By Car Takes Turn For Worse In Fight To Recover
CARMEL, N.Y. -- Marie Dunn, a Stormville mother of two who was run over in the parking lot of ShopRite in Carmel last November, has suffered a setback in her recovery, according to her fiancé.
She went into cardiac arrest early Wednesday morning, said Dunn's fiancé, Henry Zetwick.
"Prognosis is not good," he said via email. She "was put back in coma ... The next 24 hours are critical. ... We need prayers right now for Marie and to keep our little family together."
Earlier this week, Zetwick had shared news of Dunn's 50th birthday, which is on Friday, Aug. 5.

CARMEL, N.Y. -- Marie Dunn, a Stormville mother of two who was run over in the parking lot of ShopRite in Carmel last November, will be celebrating her 50th birthday on Aug. 5.
Dunn's fiance, Henry Zetwick, is organizing a party for her with friends and family members. To make the event special, he is asking readers send birthday cards to Dunn.
