Cory recently helped organize the "Never Say No" 5K at Long Dock Park in Beacon, raising $2,500 for the Poughquag-based Ryan McElory Children's Cancer Foundation. Cory, a rising junior at Beacon High School, was diagnosed with Stage 4 neuroblastoma when he was 18 months old after his parents noticed he was walking funny. 6-Year-Old Battling Brain Tumors Joins Lourdes Field Hockey Maui Lengyel is only 6 years old, but she is the newest member of the Lourdes Field Hockey program. Maui is battling non-cancerous brain tumors and is undergoing chemotherapy. She has lost permanent vision in her left eye. She joined the team Thursday. Maui's mom, Sue, is an alumnus of Lourdes and works in the health office. Maui joining the team was made possible through the Friends of Jaclyn Foundation. Backpacks, Supplies Program Pitching In For Dutchess Students DUTCHESS COUNTY, N.Y. -- Needy students across Dutchess County will have school supplies thanks to the hard work of Dutchess County Government employees, City of Poughkeepsie employees and Marist College students. The group collected over 1,400 composition notebooks and school supplies as part of the "Backpacks, Supplies & More" program, according to Dutchess County Executive Marc Molinaro.  The school supplies will be distributed to local students who need them on Saturday, Aug. 19 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Christ Episcopal Church, 20 Carroll St., in Poughkeepsie.
