Marquez was presented with the 2017 Hometown Hero Award by The Exchange Club on March 16 in recognition of his rescue of a man from a burning building last summer. On  July 11, Marquez was the first to arrive at an apartment fire on Diddell Road in Wappinger. Police informed Marquez that a man was still inside an attic apartment, but the smoke and heat pushed them back when they tried to search. New Hamburg Road Bridge Work In Wappinger To Begin Commuters should be prepared for delays and alternate lane traffic on New Hamburg Road as work begins Monday, March 6 to rebuild the Wappinger Creek bridge. The Dutchess County Department of Public Works said the bridge, which services the New Hamburg train station, is in need of repair due to the condition of the bridge deck and portions of steel elements.  The construction will be completed in two phases, allowing for the continued flow of traffic using a one-lane alternating traffic pattern controlled by a temporary traffic signal, officials said.
