At 2:50 a.m., troopers were conducting a motor vehicle stop on the right shoulder of Route 78 west in Readington Township when the driver of a Toyota lost directional control and sideswiped the police car, Troy McNair, a spokesman for the New Jersey State Police said.
The troopers sustained minor injuries and were transported to an area hospital, McNair said. The crash remains under investigation, McNair said.
