Oh deer! A 13-year-old bicyclist was struck by a deer that was struck by a car in a chaotic scene in Hackettstown on Tuesday, Oct. 10. At 7:03 p.m., police responded to the 600 block of Willow Grove Street to a report of a teen bicyclist struck by a deer, officers said. Police determined the deer ran into the roadway and was struck by a vehicle traveling southbound, officers said. The deer then proceeded to hit the bicyclist, police said. Police Forced To Put Deer Down After Crash In Glen Rock, It's Season For Drivers To Beware
The risk posed by deer in densely populated areas this particular time of year was tragically illustrated when one had to be put down in Glen Rock after being struck by a car. The driver was treated by an EMT from the Glen Rock Volunteer Ambulance Corps for a minor hand injury after the deer smashed the windshield of a Hyundai Elantra on Maple Avenue on Sunday, Oct. 30. Deer Chased By Dog Dies After Crashing Through Window Of Bergen County Home
It came in as a possible burglary in progress but turned out to be a horrific accident. Sometime before dawn Wednesday, a deer being chased by a dog crashed through the window of a River Vale home, police said. The gravely wounded deer eventually died, Capt. Chris Bulger said. Animal control removed the carcass from the Coopers Lane home, he said. “The dog appeared to be fine and the deer showed no signs of injury from the dog,” the captain said. The dog’s owner and the homeowner “have been in contact and will handle the matter between them for the damage,” he said.

Police in Warren County quickly and carefully rescued a distressed deer who was found with its antlers stuck in a fence. Washington Township police officers Overko, Wheeler and Peco were called Tuesday to the scene, where the rescue was captured in a brief but heartwarming video. A New Jersey man has been infected with a rare mosquito-borne virus, state health officials confirmed Wednesday. A Sussex County man in his 60s started suffering a fever and various neurological symptoms in May and later tested positive for the Jamestown Canyon virus, marking the state’s first detection of a mosquito-borne disease this year. : Warren County Volunteer Firefighters Rescue Deer Trapped In Silver Lake Ice
Rescue crews in Warren County jumped to action to save the life of a deer that fell through thin ice on Silver Lake Wednesday afternoon. Station 38 Fire responded to the lake equipped with ice rescue suits around 4:15 p.m. and found the deer submerged up to its legs, the department said on Facebook. The deer was quickly wrangled to shore by Hope Volunteer Fire Department members Francis Giambrone and Terry Urfer, officials said. “The young gal was happy to be back on dry land and scampered off,” the post said. “Hopefully she stays off the ice until it gets a little thicker.”
