Marine Corps' Revamped Lunga Park Reopens After Explosives Closed It For Decade Marine Corps Base Quantico's Lunga Park has been dormant for a decade, but later this month, the Triangle park will reopen to the public with a grand celebration. The original recreation area, formerly known as Lunga Recreation Area, is located on the west side of Marine Corps Base Quantico, and will reopen Friday, May 26. A grand reopening celebration featuring a BBQ cook-off, rock climbing, free fishing, free watercraft rentals, and more will be held June 3 and 4.
