More than $300,000 in damages to a Fairfax County home could've been avoided, had the smoker in the house properly discarded materials, officials said. According to the Fairfax County Fire & Rescue department, the fire at a home on the 3000 block of Steven Martin Drive in Oakton broke out just before 9 a.m. on April 17 due to "improperly discarded smoking materials." The sheriff's office put out an attempt to ID flyer after $4,400 worth of items were stolen from the Worth Avenue Home Depot on Sunday, April 22. A bomb threat was called into a Prince William County elementary school Thursday morning, April 25, police said. Authorities were on scene at T Clay Wood Elementary School in Nokesville as of 10:15 a.m. a report of a bomb threat to the school. No devices were located and the school was evacuated temporarily. A Stafford High School student has been charged in connection to a fight this week. The unnamed 18-year-old is wanted on a warrant for assault and battery in connection with the 1:20 p.m. incident on Tuesday, April 23, the county sheriff's office said. Body Found In Alexandria River
A man's body was found in an Alexandria river on Wednesday, April 24, police said. Officers were called to the 4100 block of Mount Vernon Avenue near Four Mile Park around 1:30 p.m., the Alexandria Police Department said. The adult male was pronounced dead at the scene and an autopsy is expected to determine the cause and manner of death. Earlier in the week, Alexandria police announced a suspicious death investigation on North Henry Street. They said only that an injured man was found at the scene and later pronounced dead.

West Potomac High School in Belle Haven was evacuated Wednesday morning, April 24 for a threat called in over the phone, police said.
