Car Slams Into Pole, Stone Wall In Harrisburg Suburb A car crashed into a utility pole and a stone wall in Susquehanna Township on Thursday afternoon, Aug. 29, Progress Fire 32 announced.  The Susquehanna Township Police and multiple fire departments were called to the crash in the area of Walnut Street and Oak Street around 4:30 p.m., according to a release by the Susquehanna Township Police.  "This crash resulted in the pole being sheared off with wires down in the roadway," police said.  The area of Walnut Street, between North Progress Avenue and North 36th Street was closed for hours after the crash for the investiga…

Power Outage: Wires Fall On Excavator Along Harrisburg Pike, Officials Say The power was knocked in part of Cumberland after an excavator knocked the wire down on itself, New Kingston Fire Company Chief Curtis Hall announced on Tuesday, Aug. 13.  The operator of the excavator was still inside when crews arrived at the scene in the 1100 block of Harrisburg Pike on Tuesday morning, according to Chief Hall.  PP&L soon arrived and "determined it was safe for the operator to get out," Hall said.  PP&L remained in the area to restore power to those affected. The area where the excavator was working was being used for storage.
