A woman was killed in a single-vehicle crash on Long Island. The wreck happened on the Meadowbrook State Parkway in Uniondale, north of the Southern State Parkway, at around 10:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 21. New York State Police said a Toyota Camry was heading northbound when it left the roadway and struck a tree. The driver, 80-year-old Lillie Carpenter, of Roosevelt, died at the scene, police said. Two people were killed in a multi-vehicle midday Long Island crash. It happened just after 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 6, in Melville. Two workers suffered injuries after a car crash into a Long Island business. It happened around 12:10 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, in North Merrick. A 24-year-old woman driving a 2019 Dodge Charger, was involved in a collision with a 2019 Jeep Cherokee being operated by a 71-year-old woman, Nassau County Police said. A man is accused of assaulting a police officer following a car crash on Long Island. The incident happened in Bellmore, near the intersection of Bellmore Avenue and Merrick Road, shortly before 4 p.m. Monday, Oct. 14.
