Passenger Killed, 2 Hospitalized In DWI Crash In Hempstead: Nysp
A passenger was killed in a violent driving while intoxicated crash on the Southern State Parkway, New York State Police announced on Sunday, Dec. 14.
Troopers were called to the westbound Southern State Parkway near Exit 13 (Central Avenue) in the Town of Hempstead, Nassau County, around 4 a.m. for reports of a single-vehicle crash, according to the release.
Investigators found a Hyundai Sonata on the right shoulder that had slammed into a tree. The driver, Deodat J. Ramotar, 35, of Jamaica, Queens, and a front-seat passenger were not injured, police said.

Bloomfield Man ID'd As Driver Killed In East Granby Crash
A 75-year-old Connecticut man has been identified as the victim killed in a single-car crash over the weekend, authorities said.
Alan Rosenthal, of Bloomfield, died after a crash on South Main Street in East Granby on Sunday, Oct. 19, shortly before 3 p.m., according to Connecticut State Police.
It’s unclear why, but Rosenthal’s Infiniti left the roadway, slid onto the grass shoulder, went down an embankment, and crashed into a tree, authorities said.
