A 26-year-old man is accused of targeting a Long Island resident through an elaborate computer scam. Nassau County Police said an 82-year-old East Meadow man contacted detectives at around 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 10, saying he had received a message on his computer from someone claiming to be an employee for Microsoft. The purported employee told the man that his bank accounts had been compromised and that he needed to withdraw all of his savings and “await further instructions” about where to send the funds. The identity has been released of a woman killed in a crash at an intersection in a residential Long Island neighborhood. It happened around 3:15 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 11, in Great Neck Plaza. A woman was struck by a 2004 Dodge Ram pickup truck traveling westbound on Grace Avenue at the intersection of Park Place, according to Nassau County Police. A man hoping to sell a bracelet to a Long Island jewelry store was instead beaten and robbed. Nassau County Police said the 31-year-old victim called what he thought was Five Towns Jewelry Buyers, located in Cedarhurst on Willow Avenue, at around 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 11. Security was heightened at a Long Island elementary school after authorities discovered a threatening social media post. Police are trying to identify a man who urinated on the front porch of a Long Island home and shouted antisemitic obscenities. The incident happened in Plainview, at a residence on Grohmans Lane, at around 1:30 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 8. Burglar Sought After Stealing Cash From Long Island Business
Police are investigating after a burglar made off with over $1,000 from a Long Island business. The break-in happened in Oyster Bay at the Lee’s Laundromat on South Street sometime overnight Monday, Sept. 9. Nassau County Police said someone pried open a rear door before stealing approximately $1,500 in cash. They then fled in an unknown direction. No description of the suspect was given.
