A Long Island driver who killed a woman while high on cocaine and Xanax pleaded guilty Monday, Sept. 28, authorities said.
Nina Varrino, 52, of Glen Cove, admitted to aggravated vehicular homicide for the crash that killed Lisa Pelaez on July 12, 2025, the Nassau County District Attorney’s office said.
Varrino spent the prior night working as an Uber driver, then stayed up all night partying, drinking, and taking drugs, investigators said.

A Pennsylvania man admitted strangling his wife’s fiancée in his van and burying her body along a creek nearly seven years ago, according to court documents obtained by Daily Voice on Monday, Sept. 28.
David Allen Snyder, 39, of Hanover, is charged with first-degree murder and strangulation in the death of 38-year-old Kimberley Gsell, court records show.

NJ Molotov Cocktail Attack Leads To Charges For NYC Man: Authorities
A second New York man has been charged in a Molotov cocktail attack in New Jersey, authorities announced Monday, Sept. 28.
Tahkem Boynton, 28, of Fresh Meadows, Queens, was identified by the Ocean County Prosecutor’s office.
Boynton and Tashaun Normand, 42, of the Bronx, teamed up for the attack in South Toms River back on March 23, investigators said. Normand was arrested days later in Tennessee and extradited back to New Jersey in July, according to authorities.

More than 6,000 customers remained without power on Long Island on Monday morning, Sept. 28 following the weekend’s nor’easter.
Most of the outages are in Suffolk County, according to Long Island utility provider PSEG.
Throughout the storm, more than 124,000 outages were reported across the island, and 95% were fixed by 8 a.m. Monday, PSEG said.
The “vast majority” of customers currently without power should have it restored by the end of Monday, PSEG claimed. Workers were putting in 16-hour shifts to respond to all the issues, the company said.

Brian Woehr, 41, of Lindenhurst, cut a plea deal Friday, Sept. 25 in which he admitted to two counts in exchange for a 17-year prison sentence, the Suffolk County District Attorney’s office said.
