'Motivated By Greed': Woman Convicted In Murder, Attempted Home Theft Of Aquebogue Mechanic Nearly two years after a 69-year-old engine mechanic was found shot to death inside his Long Island home, a jury has convicted his killer. Donatila O’Mahony, age 42, of Central Islip, was found guilty of second-degree murder in the death of Lee Pedersen in Suffolk County Court on Tuesday, Jan. 24. According to prosecutors, Pedersen was found dead inside his Aquebogue home on March 8, 2020. Nor'easter: Suffolk Man Drowns After Falling Into Pool While Shoveling Snow A Long Island man drowned after he fell into a swimming pool while shoveling snow from the nor'easter that moved through the region.  Southold Town Police said the man was a senior citizen from the Suffolk County hamlet of Cutchogue, in the Town of Southold on the north fork of Long Island, according to the Suffolk Times. Authorities responded to the home at about 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 29, the news outlet reported.
