Darien's William Jerome Bellis, 92, Will Be Remembered As Good-Natured, Loyal, Dependable
William Jerome Bellis (Bill), of Darien, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Jan. 12, 2023, at the age of 92 surrounded by his family. He bravely fought lung cancer for over a year. Bill was born on May 12, 1930, in New York, NY to the late William Bellis and Anne Gallagher Bellis. His parents were immigrants from Liverpool, England, and Donegal, Ireland, respectively. Bill graduated from Blessed Sacrament High School, in New Rochelle, where he played on the basketball and baseball teams. He went on to earn a BA in History from Iona College in 1953. Maura Molloy’s life was defined by music. Now, the Westchester County educator and musician’s loved ones must rely on the many video recordings of her performances if they hope to again experience her bright, angelic singing voice. Hockey Hall of Fame forward Mike Bossy announced that he has been diagnosed with lung cancer. With January being National Radon Awareness Month, the New York State Health Departments said New Yorkers should make sure their homes are tested. Dangerous radon levels (at a level above the EPA guideline) have been reported in 4,000 Hudson Valley homes.
