Fatal Crash: Vehicle Hits Tree, Goes Up In Flames On Busy Hudson Valley Highway
A person was killed in a fiery crash on a busy Hudson Valley highway, police announced.
The incident happened in Putnam County on Monday, May 6, around 7:15 p.m., when a vehicle traveling on I-84 in Kent left the roadway and struck a tree, according to Trooper AJ Hicks of the New York State Police.
After hitting the tree, the vehicle went up in flames, Hicks said. The driver, whose name has not yet been released, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The cause of the crash has not been released.

Trooper Shoots, Kills Man Walking After Vehicle Becomes Disabled, Closing I-84 For Hours

A man who was walking along Interstate 84 after his vehicle became disabled in Orange County was shot and killed by a New York State Trooper following a confrontation, said the New York State Police.
The incident took place around 2 a.m., Thursday, May 23, when state police responded to a report of a disabled vehicle on I-84 in the town of Montgomery near exit 5A, said Trooper Steven Nevel.
As troopers arrived on the scene of the disabled vehicle, another call was received of a man walking along the westbound shoulder of I-84, near exit 5, he added.
