BMW Driver Charged With DWI After Crashing Into Three Pedestrians In Freeport A Massapequa man whose BMW SUV plowed into three pedestrians on a Freeport Village sidewalk has been charged with DWI and other crimes, police said. Mitchell Messling, 66, was driving the vehicle westbound on West Merrick Road near the intersection of South Long Beach Avenue around 4:10 p.m., Monday, May 27, when he left the roadway and drove partially onto the sidewalk, Nassau County Police said.
