Seven people, including children, were hospitalized after someone allegedly sprayed a chemical substance at a family's Fourth of July barbecue in Valley Stream, Nassau County Police said.
The incident happened during a neighbor dispute at a Cochran Place home around 8:14 p.m. on Friday, July 3, police said. Officers responding to the scene determined that Nicholas Stolz, 46, of Valley Stream, sprayed a chemical substance at the neighboring home while the family was holding a July 4 BBQ, according to detectives.

Niche released its 2026 Best Places to Live in America rankings, naming top cities, neighborhoods, suburbs, and towns across the US.

A motorcyclist was killed after crashing into a car at an intersection on Long Island early Friday, July 3, police said.
Kevin Zambrano, 25, of Shirley, was riding a Honda VT1 motorcycle eastbound on Middle Country Road in Centereach when he drove through a red light at Eastwood Boulevard and collided with a northbound 2021 Nissan Sentra that had the green light at approximately 12 a.m., Suffolk County Police said.
