Woman Charged With Embezzling $60,000 From Norwalk Employer NORWALK, Conn. -- A Bridgeport woman was arrested after she was accused of embezzling more than $60,000 from her Norwalk employer in 2014, police said. Stephanie Wright, 28, was charged with first-degree larceny and third-degree identity theft. She was held on $61,500 bond and will appear in court April 2. The owner of a Norwalk roofing company alerted police after receiving a letter addressed to his business from TD Bank. Senators Talk State Spending At Danbury Chamber Event DANBURY, Conn. – State Sens. Bob Duff and Robert Kane addressed state spending from opposite sides of the aisle during a breakfast presentation hosted Tuesday by the Greater Danbury Chamber of Commerce. Visual Arts Center Sculpts A Model Of Environmental Efficiency In Danbury DANBURY, Conn. – The new Visual and Performing Arts Center at Western Connecticut State University in Danbury was designed not only to provide a facility for quality education and arts, but also to help the environment. Dogs Attack Woman And Her Labrador At Darien's Tilley Pond Park DARIEN, Conn. -- A Stamford woman and her dog were attacked by two other dogs at Tilley Pond Park in Darien last week, police said. The incident occurred when the 56-year-old Stamford resident was walking her 3-year-old chocolate Labrador in the park on the evening of Thursday, March 19. A man walking his two bichons approached them, and the two spoke briefly. The man, a 64-year-old Greenwich resident, told the woman that his dogs were friendly, police said. Norwalk Man Charged In January Dispute With Neighbor Involving Ax NORWALK, Conn. -- A Norwalk man was arrested on a warrant in connection with a fight in January when he walked onto his neighbor's property carrying an ax, police said. Wayne Pelham, 25, was charged with third-degree criminal trespassing. He had previously been charged with interfering with an officer and possession of marijuana. Norwalk Police Launches Program To Help Those Who Wander NORWALK, Conn. – Norwalk residents who worry about their loved ones who may wander off can rest easier thanks to a new program implemented by the Norwalk Police Department. Project Lifesaver is a national program that helps track people who are prone to wander from home due to cognitive conditions such as Alzheimer’s, dementia, Down syndrome, autism or brain injuries. Norwalk Officers Honored For Stopping Armed Robber NORWALK, Conn. – Norwalk Police Sgt. Garrett Kruger and Officer Kelly Haddy were honored this week by the Police Commission as the February Officers of the Month for their work in catching an armed robber. Kruger and Haddy responded to an armed robbery at the Mobil gas station on North Avenue in the early hours of Feb. 5. Norwalk Police Issued 50 Tickets On St. Patrick's Day NORWALK, Conn. -- Norwalk police issued 50 infractions during their DUI enforcement on St. Patrick's Day. Police stepped up drunk driving enforcement through the evening of Tuesday, March 17 into the early hours of Wednesday, March 18. This included a DUI checkpoint on West Avenue, as well as additional roving DUI units patrolled throughout the city. Police arrested two people for allegedly operating under the influence. Other infractions and summonses included nine tickets for no seat belts, 21 unregistered motor vehicles and one summons for use of a cell phone, police said.

Elderly Norwalk Woman Dies Who Was Caught In Fire In Ely Avenue Home NORWALK, Conn. -- An elderly Norwalk woman who got trapped in a burning home on Ely Avenue on Wednesday died early Thursday morning. Fire officials could not release much information about the victim and said the cause of the fire was still under investigation. Norwalk Firefighters Rescue Elderly Woman From Ely Avenue Blaze NORWALK, Conn. -- Norwalk firefighters rescued an elderly woman trapped in a burning house on Ely Avenue on Wednesday. Shortly before 11:30 a.m., Norwalk Combined Dispatch received a report of a structure fire at 201 Ely Ave. where the living room was on fire and an elderly bedridden woman on the first floor was still inside, fire officials said.
