Two Women Charged With Prostitution In Massage Parlor Bust In Westport WESTPORT, Conn. -- Two women were charged with practicing prostitution at an unlicensed massage parlor in Westport after lengthy investigation, police said. Vera Kuvshinova, 27, of Fairlawn, N.J., was charged with promoting prostitution, prostitution and practicing massage therapy without a license. Dilyara Ziganshina, 31, of Brooklyn, N.Y., was charged with prostitution and practicing massage therapy without a license. Each was held on $10,000 bond. Clean Sweep: Norwalk Goes To Work On City's Streets NORWALK, Conn. – Norwalk is instituting a new street cleaning program to improve the cleanliness of the city. Darien's Duff, Leone Support Bill To Give Tax Breaks To Veterans DARIEN, Conn. – State Sens. Bob Duff and Carlo Leone gathered with veterans in Darien on Wednesday to announce their support for a bill that would provide a large tax break for retired veterans. The law in Connecticut currently provides a 50 percent exemption from state income taxes for military retirement pay. Under the new law, that exemption would be increased to 100 percent. Driver From Hit-And-Run Pedestrian Accident In Norwalk Contacts Police NORWALK, Conn. -- Norwalk police have spoken with the driver of a car that hit a pedestrian on West Avenue early Wednesday morning, an accident that led the closure of the I-95 southbound ramp. The driver came in and spoke to investigators Wednesday, Norwalk police said. As of Wednesday afternoon, the driver has not been charged, but the vehicle has been taken into custody, police said. Female Danbury High Teacher Is Charged With Sexual Assault Of Male Student DANBURY, Conn. -- A 24-year-old female teacher at Danbury High School was arrested Tuesday on sexual assault charges from an incident involving a male student, according to police. Kayla Mooney of Danbury was charged with second-degree sexual assault and distributing alcohol to a minor, police said in a statement. She was released on a promise to appear in court on April 14. Norwalk Man Charged With Stealing Power Tools NORWALK, Conn. -- A Norwalk man was arrested on four warrants in connection with a series of car and residential burglaries in the city, police said. Wilmer Arias, 37, was charged with third-degree burglary, third-degree larceny and conspiracy. He was held on $60,000 bond. The burglaries occurred in January and February, police said.
