Stamford Museum Taps Into Nature For Pure Maple Syrup STAMFORD, Conn. – Though the cold weather has taken its toll, the Stamford Museum & Nature Center has still been able to produce lots of delicious maple syrup in its Sugarhouse this year. Visitors got a glimpse Sunday at the last open house of the season as volunteer Allan Klumac and staff member Lisa Monachelli took them through the process of tapping sugar maple trees and boiling the sap down to produce the syrup. It takes about an hour to boil 40 gallons of sap to one gallon of syrup. The boiling separates the water and concentrates the sugar, so that the finished product is abou…

Marconi Praises Growth In Ridgefield In State Of The Town Address RIDGEFIELD, Conn. – Ridgefield saw positive economic growth in 2014, which is expected to continue this year, First Selectman Rudy Marconi said during a State of the Town Address on Friday. Marconi made his remarks during the Chamber of Commerce’s annual Awards Breakfast at the Silver Spring Country Club. The town put about $700,000 into its fund balance in 2014, and expects to add another $600,000 in 2015, Marconi said. Robert Mosley, 48, was charged with possession of child pornography, promoting a minor in an obscene performance, importing child pornography and obscenity. Darien Grand List Grows 1% To $8.3 Billion DARIEN, Conn. – The Darien Grand List of taxable property for 2014 grew by $80.5 million to $8,365,999,834, according to the Tax Assessor’s Office. The growth represents a 1 percent increase over the previous year, which had seen a 7 percent decrease over the 2012 Grand List. The Grand List reflects 70 percent of the assessed value of all real estate, motor vehicles and personal property in Darien as of Oct. 1, 2014.
