New Mom, 35, Killed By Car On Capital Beltway: Police, Campaign
Support is surging for the family of a 35-year-old Alexandria mom who loved ones say died in a tragic accident over the weekend.
Vanessa V. Schwartz "stepped into traffic" when she was struck and killed on Sunday, March 10 just before 4 a.m. in the eastbound lanes of the Capital Beltway in Fairfax County, Virginia State Police said.
Vanessa was struck by a Honda Accord unable to avoid her, which was then struck by a 2021 Acura RDX, police said. The Acura struck the jersey wall and a 2023 Nissan Rogue, police said.

Friends and family are mourning the loss of Deangelo Moore, a father and entrepreneur who was gunned down in Prince George's County after making painstaking efforts to turn his life around after some trouble with the law.
Early on Wednesday, Oct. 3, police say that District resident Moore, 32, and Derrick Graham, 41, were shot in what his family described as "a senseless act of violence" in Oxon Hill.

Charles Oxley, 28, of Oxon Hill, and Washington, DC resident Lamont Oxley, 30, have been identified by police as the victims who were gunned down on Sunday, Sept. 10.
The shooting was reported at approximately 11:10 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 10 in the 5500 block of Livingston Terrace.
