Burning Pile Of Garbage At Church In Mount Joy: Authorities (Photos) A burning pile of garbage was dumped from a garbage truck at a church parking lot in Mount Joy on Wednesday, May 17, 2023, authorities said. The Fire Department Mount Joy was called to the fire at Calvary Bible Church on Union School Road around 7 a.m., according to the department.  The trash truck driver spotted the fire and dumped in the church parking lot, where fire units arrived to find it.  The fire crews worked for about an hour to extinguish the fire.  Mike Brubaker of Brubaker Farms operated a loader to help the crew separate the trash pile. Mount Joy Fatal Fire Victim IDd By Authorities Officials have identified the man killed in a residential fire in Mount Joy over the weekend. Crews were called to the fire in the block 30 North Jacob Street on Sunday around 9 p.m., as Daily Voice previously reported. The victim was later identified as David Sanchez, 70, of Mount Joy, according to the Lancaster County Coroner and fire officials. Family Displaced By Fire In East Petersburg (Video) A fire displaced a family in East Petersburg on Thursday, according to Fire Department Mount Joy. Posted by Makin’ The Hit Emergency Media Services & News on Thursday, May 13, 2021 Fire crews were called to the home in the 2000 block of State Street in East Petersburg shortly before 5 p.m., according to dispatch. Crews quickly got the smokey fire under control, vented the home from the attic, according to the fire department. Three adults and a child are being cared for by the Red Cross. The cause of the fire and the estimated cost of the fire in unknown.
