Horse Struck Dead By Van, No Charges Filed: PA State Police
A horse was struck dead by a minivan in Salisbury Township on Thursday, Sep. 5, Pennsylvania State Police announced the following day. The 2011 Dodge Caravan driven by 20-year-old Leon Lapp of Atglen struck a horse standing on Churchtown Road just south of Main Street at 6:01 a.m., PSP Lancaster Trooper Joshua Croyle wrote in the release. Firefighter Taken To Hospital After Red Lion Rowhome Blaze: Officials
A firefighter was briefly hospitalized following a rowhome fire in Red Lion, officials explained on Friday, Sept. 6. The blaze broke out in the 200 block of South Main Street at 1:21 a.m., according to the York County Department of Emergency Services. The firefighter was taking to the hospital for dehydration but has since been released, fire officials said. Two units were damaged and the three residents have been assisted by the Red Cross. Motorcyclist Killed In Crash By Rt 15 Ramps With Rt 114: PennDOT
A crash between an SUV and a motorcycle left one person dead on Friday, Sept. 6, Pennsylvania Department of Transportation spokesperson Fritzi Schreffler told Daily Voice. The fatal crash happened in the westbound lane of South Market Street/Route 114 at the intersection with the ramps to Route 15 at 12:30 p.m., Schreffler explained. Authorities ID Custodian Found Dead Day Before School Started In Lackawanna County
An 81-year-old man found dead at an elementary school in Lackawanna County has been identified, authorities said on Friday, Sept. 6. The body of Gary Porter, 81, of Dunmore, was discovered on Aug. 27 at Dunmore Elementary Center at 300 W. Warren St. in Dunmore, Lackawanna County Coroner Timothy Rowland told Daily Voice. His death took place one day before the new school year began on Aug. 28. Rowland said he has not issued a ruling on the cause of death pending a police investigation.
