Hudson Valley Teen Runaway Nabbed For Stealing Cars, Burglary, Theft, Police Say
A 16-year-old runaway in the region has been nabbed for allegedly stealing two vehicles, burglary, and theft.
The arrest occurred in Ulster County on Tuesday, Oct. 22, in the town of Lloyd.
According to Lloyd Police Chief James Janso, the Lake Katrine teen was charged after a month-long investigation found the boy allegedly stole two vehicles, entered a residence, stole a cell phone and iPad, and took alcohol from a convenience store in Highland.

Lifelong Hudson Valley Resident Who Served As Fire Chief, Owned Catering Business Dies At 70
A popular lifelong Hudson Valley former fire chief and catering business owner known for his love of cooking has died at the age of 70.
Ulster County resident Michael B. Hackett, of Highland, passed away on Monday, Jan. 15. He was born on Sunday, June 7, 1953, in Poughkeepsie, to the late Francis and the late Rita (McGrath) Hackett, according to his obituary.
He was a resident all of his life. He was a graduate of Roy C. Ketcham High School in Wappingers Falls and a member of St. Martin de Porres Church in Poughkeepsie, his obituary said,

40-Year-Old Injured In 2-Vehicle Crash In Hudson Valley
A 40-year-old man was injured during a two-vehicle crash in the Hudson Valley while allegedly attempting to pass another vehicle in a no-passing zone.
The crash took place in Ulster County around 7 am.m., Sunday, Aug. 6 in the town of Ulster Park.
According to Sgt. Collins Reynolds, of the Ulster County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to the area of 46 Ulster Ave., on Ulster Ave., for a report of a motorcycle versus a vehicle.
When officers arrived they found Erik Santiago, age 22 of Poughkeepsie, and motorcycle driver Wesley Salis, age 40, of Highland, Reynolds said.

A Hudson Valley mom has been charged with allegedly allowing her 10-year-old son to get a permanent tattoo.
Ulster County resident Crystal Thomas, age 33, of Highland, was arrested on Tuesday, Oct. 4, said the town of Lloyd Police.
According to Chief James Janso, of the town of Lloyd, Thomas allowed her juvenile child to get a large permanent ink tattoo on his body at a hotel in Lloyd.
State law prohibits anyone under the age of 18 from getting a tattoo, regardless of parental consent.

Drunk, Pickaxe-Wielding Man Breaks Into Residence In Region, Attacks Homeowner, Cops Say
A homeowner in the region is no doubt shaken up, but otherwise okay after police said a drunk man wielding a pickaxe broke into his home and attacked him.
Authorities in Sullivan County were called just before 9 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 14, with reports of an assault and attempted robbery at a home in Bethel, located on Mohawk Trail.
State Police determined that the 38-year-old suspect, Daniel Desseauve, of Highland in Ulster County, approached the home carrying a pickaxe and pushed the front door open.

Woman Busted On Thruway With BAC Over Three Times Legal Limit, Police Say
A 37-year-old woman was arrested after she was allegedly busted for drunk driving on the New York State Thruway, authorities said.
Troopers in Ulster County stopped the woman’s car just before 6 p.m. Tuesday, July 12, in the town of New Paltz for multiple vehicle and traffic violations, according to New York State Police.
They determined the driver, Allison Aber, of Malta in Saratoga County, was intoxicated and arrested her.

A store employee was arrested for allegedly taking a picture under a female customer's dress as she shopped at a supermarket in the Hudson Valley.
The incident took place in Ulster County at the Hannaford Store in Highland at 3650 Route 9W on Saturday, May 21, according to police.
