Police are investigating the death of a man who was pulled unresponsive from water on Long Island. A Suffolk County Park Ranger was patrolling on Outer Beach in Smith Point County Park when he was notified that a man was in distress in the water at noontime Sunday, Aug. 11. The officer and a good Samaritan immediately attempted to reach the man using a life ring, but he was located unresponsive by Suffolk County lifeguards on jet skis. A woman is recovering after she drove her car into the water on Long Island, prompting a water rescue from police. The incident happened at around 1:15 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 12 in Mastic, near Hampton Avenue and Riviera Drive. According to Suffolk County Police, the 53-year-old Shirley woman was driving a BMW i3 eastbound on Hampton Avenue when she crashed through a guardrail and landed in the Forge River. One Dead After Car Crashes Into Water On Long Island
One man was killed after his vehicle went into the water on Long Island and divers could not reach him in time to save his life. The incident took place in Nassau County in Freeport around 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, April 26 at Cow Meadow Park. According to the Freeport Fire Department, divers from the NYPD, with help from several other departments, went into the water and located the vehicle with a person inside. Officers rescued three people after their kayaks overturned at a state park on Long Island. Officers on Marine Juliette responded to Captree State Park in Bay Shore on Monday, Aug. 16 after receiving a report of kayakers in the water at about 3:10 p.m., according to the Suffolk County Police Department. A jet ski rider was rescued on Long Island after their vehicle hit a sandbar. The rescue took place around 11:13 a.m., Sunday, June 6, when South Country Ambulance was requested as mutual aid to the Mastic Beach Fire Department for a water rescue in New Old Inlet in Bellport Bay. A man was rescued after his kayak overturned and sank on the Great South Bay. David Kennedy, 52, of Patchogue, was paddling in a 12-foot Pelican kayak with a friend in another kayak when he was thrown overboard by a rogue wave Saturday, Aug. 22 at about 7:40 a.m. northeast of Watch Hill in Patchogue Bay, Suffolk County Police said.
