Man, Woman Airlifted After Two-Car Long Island Crash
A man in possession of THC gummies was one of two motorists airlifted to the hospital after a two-car collision on Long Island, state police said.
It happened on Friday, March 6 just before 2:30 p.m. on Sunrise Highway (Route 27) in Southampton.
Caige Meier, 26, of Manorville, was traveling westbound in a Nissan Armada when he lost control of his vehicle and struck Toyota Prius from behind, state police said.
The Prius was driven by Joanna Reis, 47, of Manorville, according to police.

A Sag Harbor man was arrested for allegedly driving a boat while intoxicated after crashing into a dock and then overturning the vessel.
Gary Lucas, 66, was arrested around 11:30 p.m., Saturday, July 20, and charged with boating while intoxicated, after crashing into a dock and then flipping the boat, said Southampton Town Police Department Det. Lt. James Kiernan.
Police responded to 370 Ferry Road in Northaven, and found five people were on board the 39-foot-vessel, including Lucas, who was the captain, when the crash occurred, Kiernan said.

Johnny Mendez, 18, was driving a Subaru Impreza northbound on Lincoln Boulevard, just north of Vets Highway at approximately 10:15 p.m. on Tuesday, June 18, when he veered into the southbound lane and struck a Jeep Cherokee being driven by Francis Squillace, 61, head-on.

A woman is dead and her daughter injured after a fire broke out at a home on Long Island.
Crews from the Patchogue Fire Department responded to an Ohls Street home at approximately 9:45 a.m. on Friday, June 14, where a blaze broke out, officials said.
Elisa Doughty, 65, was trapped inside the home. She died from injuries suffered during the fire and was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner.

An allegedly drunken driver took off on foot after before being taken down by officers following a crash at a busy intersection in Selden, police said.
Selden resident Candice Girolando, 37, was driving west shortly after 8:45 p.m. on Sunday, May 5, on Route 25 when she drove into a Jeep at the intersection of Blue Point Road, police said.
