Memorial Day Weekend Overnight Sobriety Checkpoint: 12 Charged In Patchogue A dozen people were charged in an overnight sobriety checkpoint on Long Island at the outset of the Memorial Day weekend. The detail was held in Patchogue from around 11 p.m. Friday, May 24, until 2:30 a.m. Saturday, May 25. Officers from the Suffolk County Police Department’s Highway Patrol Bureau SAFE-T Team conducted the joint operation with Suffolk County deputy sheriffs at Waverly Plaza.  A total of 569 vehicles went through the checkpoint. Fatal Hit-Run Ronkonkoma Crash: 21-Year-Old Woman ID'd A 21-year-old woman was killed by a hit-and-run driver on Long Island. The incident happened at around 3:20 a.m. Monday, May 20, in Ronkonkoma near the intersection of Ronkonkoma Avenue and Third Street. Suffolk County Police said Elyse Crivaro, of Holbrook, was walking across Ronkonkoma Avenue when she was struck by a southbound car. The vehicle, described as a dark colored sedan, fled the scene. Bay Shore Teen Angie Reyes, Age 14, Reported Missing Police are asking for help in locating a missing teenager from Long Island. Angie Reyes, age 14, of Bay Shore, was last seen on Stein Drive at around 6:20 a.m. Wednesday, May 15. Suffolk County Police said the teen is believed to be suicidal and may be in need of medical attention. Reyes is Hispanic, 4-feet-11 and 115 pounds, with red hair and brown eyes. Brandon Ragusa, age 29, was last seen at around 7 p.m. Sunday, April 21, in the hamlet of Melville on Elderwood Lane. Suffolk County Police said he is considered a vulnerable adult who suffers from schizophrenia and is believed to be suicidal. He may have traveled to the Queens area.
