Two Kearny residents were arrested and charged on Monday, Dec. 2 after a moped operator was seriously injured in a crash on Super Bowl Sunday authorities said. On Sunday, Feb. 11, a moped operator was struck by a cargo van in the area of Harrison Avenue and Bergen Avenue in Kearny, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said. A 21-year-old Newark man has been charged with murder after authorities say he strangled and stabbed a 74-year-old woman inside her Paramus home before stealing her vehicle and debit card. Kishan S. A Wayne resident suffered a head injury chasing multiple masked suspects out of his home Wednesday morning, Oct. 23, police said. The homeowner said he awoke to the masked individuals in his bedroom around 5 a.m., after they'd removed the first-floor screen from a window and broke the lock that secured it, Police Chief Joseph Rooney said. Two luxury vehicles were stolen in a residential burglary in Westfield on the early morning of Monday, Sept. 30, police said.
