NJ Teen Struck Pedestrian Delivering Food, Fled Scene: Fairfield PD
An 18-year-old Morris County resident was arrested and charged on Wednesday, May 21 with striking a pedestrian and leaving the scene, authorities said.
At 9:26 p.m., officers responded to 100 Horseneck Road after a pedestrian making a food delivery was struck by a motor vehicle, Fairfield police said. The vehicle did not remain on the scene, police said.
Neighbors assisted police with security footage, allowing them to identity the vehicle, a 2024 white Lincoln Corsair, officers said. Police located the driver, Hunter Hayek, a Towaco resident, and the vehicle, officers said.

Plainfield Man Killed After Car Bursts Into Flames On Route 78: Njsp
A 49-year-old Plainfield man was killed in a fiery crash on Route 78 on Thursday, May 22, authorities said.
At 2:13 a.m., a Hyundai Kona was traveling westbound on Route 78 in Clinton Township when it veered off the roadway to the left, impacted a tree, overturned and was engulfed in flames, Jeffrey Lebron, a spokesman for New Jersey State Police said.
The driver, Isaiah Hunter, sustained fatal injuries, Lebron said. The crash remains under investigation, Lebron said.

A former Bergen County middle school teacher who was arrested for sexually assaulting one of her teenage students has been sentenced and permanently stripped of her teaching licenses, authorities confirmed.
Stephanie Carafa, 39, was arrested in 2018 while working at Thomas Jefferson Middle School in Lodi, where the victim, a teenage boy between the ages of 13 and 16, was her student, according to the criminal complaint obtained by Daily Voice. Burglars entered a home in Summit early Wednesday, May 21, and left with two BMWs, authorities said.
At 5 a.m., the suspects entered the residence on the 200 block of Ashland Road through an unsecured rear door, Summit police said. While inside, the suspects located and stole two sets of vehicle keys and fled the scene in two BMWs, a 2024 BMW X7 and a 2021 BMW X3, that belonged to the homeowners, police said.

At 12:34 a.m., officers observed a white Honda Civic exit the Route 80 West ramp onto Lane Road at a high rate of speed and then failed to yield prior to entering Two Bridges Road from Lane Road, Fairfield police said.
