The Stone Pony Turns 50: Iconic NJ Music Club Prepares For Anniversary Celebration
A historic concert venue on the oceanfront of Asbury Park known for launching the careers of Bruce Springsteen and Jon Bon Jovi is celebrating its golden anniversary. The Stone Pony said it will kick off its 50th anniversary celebration on Thursday, Feb. 8, a half-century to the day the music club opened on North Ocean Avenue. A 31-year-old Bayonne woman was killed and two others injured in an overnight Jersey City crash overnight, authorities said. Stephanie Weymouth was riding in the 2019 Nissan passenger car that struck the back of a parked tractor trailer on Route 185 and Linden Avenue around 12:20 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 3, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said. Two juveniles were arrested and charged on Thursday, Jan. 25 for a November shooting in Hoboken, authorities said. On Wednesday, Nov. 8, at 11:58 p.m., officers responded to a report of a shooting on the 300 block of Jackson Street and found three shell casings, Hoboken police said. Jersey City Man Sexually Assaulted 9-Year-Old Multiple Times: Prosecutors
A 28-year-old Jersey City man was arrested on Thursday, Jan. 25 and charged with sexually assaulting a then-9-year-old girl in 2019, authorities said. Nestor Moreno sexually assaulted the girl multiple times, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said. He was charged with sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child, Suarez said.
