A 15-year-old girl is fighting for her life in the hospital after being hit by a car in Jersey City Saturday afternoon, authorities said. The girl was crossing Duncan Avenue near Delaware Avenue when she was struck by a mid-size sedan shortly after 3:30 p.m., Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said in a Sunday release. Authorities announced an arrest in connection with a deadly Jersey City weekend stabbing. Raymond Chandler, 45, is accused of killing 46-year-old Haldy Thermitus in a vacant West Side Avenue lot on Nov. 19, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said. Police officers responding to a lot near West Side and Oxford avenues found Thermitus in the back of 562 West Side Ave., with injuries, Suarez said. Details Released In Latest Jersey City Hit-Run Pedestrian Crash
An 83-year-old woman was seriously injured in Jersey City's latest hit-and-run crash, authorities said. The woman was crossing JFK Boulevard at Harrison Avenue when she was hit by a vehicle around 7:20 p.m., Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said. The driver was in a red or maroon vehicle and fled the scene, Suarez said. Meanwhile, the victim was in critical condition at Jersey City Medical Center. Two people were seriously injured and two were moderately hurt in a Kearny crash Tuesday morning, authorities said. A 2011 Mitsubishi Lancer struck a disabled tractor trailer just after 4 a.m. near Route 7 and Harrison Avenue, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said. The 21-year-old driver, a Garfield man, and a second rear passenger, a 20-year-old male, are listed in stable condition. Kearny Girl, 17, Charged In Death Of Baby Found In Trash Can
A 17-year-old girl was arrested in the death of an infant last October in Hudson County, authorities said. The Kearny teen was charged with aggravated manslaughter, child endangerment and desecrating human remains, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said. The girl was charged as a juvenile. A Change.org petition called "Justice for Baby Matthew" was launched by Angela Owens last October, after the infant was found in a trash can. A woman who struck and injured three pedestrians in Jersey City was charged with driving while intoxicated, authorities announced. DPW Worker Charged With Multiple Sex Crimes Involving Juvenile, Hudson Prosecutor Says
A 46-year-old DPW worker from Hudson County on charges involving multiple sex crimes against a juvenile, authorities said Saturday. Secaucus resident Victor Rodriguez assaulted the alleged victim -- who was ages 12 and 13 -- more than seven years ago, and was arrested June 29, 2021, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said. The Secaucus DPW worker was charged with aggravated sexual assault, sexual assault by contact, endangering the welfare of a child and criminal sexual contact.
