19: Municipality In Westchester Reinstates Indoor Mask Mandate For Town Buildings
A Westchester municipality has voted to reinstate indoor mask mandates for town board meetings and in all town-owned buildings with the rise in the number of COVID-19 cases. The Greenburgh Town Board made the decision as the number of cases continues to rise to require masks inside all town-owned buildings. At the town board meeting on Wednesday, July 13, everyone who attends must wear a mask, said Town Supervisor Paul Feiner. "We know that most people hate masks. Some employees and residents have compromised immune systems," said Feiner. "If they get Covid-19 it could be very…

19: Hochul Sees 'Glimmer Of Hope' In NY, Though Hospitalizations Remain A Concern
Following an unprecedented COVID-19 spike in New York, the state could see the number of new cases plateauing as it continues climbing out of the post-holiday surge of the virus triggered by the Omicron strain, according to officials. During her latest COVID-19 briefing in New York City on Tuesday, Jan. 11, Gov. Kathy Hochul said that the state “might be cresting over a peak,” following a record number of new cases in recent weeks. “Just as we saw at the outset, the virus is changing,” she said. “And we knew the (Omicron variant) characteristics early on showed that it’s not as severe, but …

19: Children Should Keep Wearing Masks In School Even If Vaccinated, CDC Says
The director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) said the agency will continue to recommend that children wear masks this winter while in school, regardless of their COVID-19 vaccination status. CDC Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky made the announcement on Wednesday, Oct. 20, at a news briefing. She said once COVID-19 vaccinations are authorized for children ages 5 to 11, the CDC will work to scale up pediatric vaccinations, but she added that this will take some time. "And as I just noted, as we head into these winter months, we know we cannot be complacent,"…

19: NY Sends Mask Enforcers To Hudson Valley, Other Areas In State
The cavalry is coming to ensure that New Yorkers are adhering to the state’s mask mandates during the COVID-19 pandemic.
