19: Steroids Reduce Mortality In Severely Ill Patients, Researchers Say
Steroids can be used to combat COVID-19, according to new guidelines issued by the World Health Organization. Countries should stock up on steroids now, the WHO advised on Wednesday, Sept. 2. The steroid dexamethasone reduced COVID-related deaths by one-third of hospitalized patients who required ventilators and one-fifth of patients who were put on oxygen, according to a recent study by UK-based RECOVERY. One of two NYPD police officers shot in an assassination attempt by a lone gunman left the hospital to applause from his fellow officers as he returned to his Hudson Valley home to recover.
