High-Rise Blaze Prompts Evacuation Of Residents At Westchester Apartment Building
A blaze on a high floor at a Northern Westchester apartment complex proved to be a difficult battle for firefighters. The blaze began in Peekskill on Friday, March 22 just before 2:30 p.m., when a fire alarm was set off at the Crossroads Apartments at 1109 Brown St., according to the City of Peekskill Fire Department. Arriving fire crews soon found smoke coming from the window of a fifth-floor apartment and quickly raced up to begin putting it out. Person Hospitalized After Blaze At Multi-Family Home In Westchester
A fire at a multi-family residence in Northern Westchester sent one occupant to the hospital, fire officials said. The incident began on Friday, Dec. 29 around 9:30 a.m. at a residence in Peekskill on Highland Avenue, where an electrical outlet was reported to be smoking, according to the City of Peekskill Fire Department. Familiar Face, New Place: Westchester Fire Chief Lands New Gig
A longtime civil servant in Westchester is taking his talents north to take over at his hometown fire department where he began his career. After 17 years in Scarsdale, Fire Chief James Seymour IV will be stepping away to accept an appointment to become the City of Peekskill’s first paid fire chief, bringing his career full circle to where he first began his fire service career.
