Blaze Tears Through Hudson Valley Home, Heavily Damages Roof A fire broke out in the attic of a Rockland County home, leaving the roof heavily damaged and bringing firefighters from New York and New Jersey to the scene. The blaze happened at 18 Cranberry Rd. in Sloatsburg at around 5:30 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 8, according to the Ramapo Police Department.  Officers first responded to a report of smoke coming from the home.
