Jay Pathak, 24, was charged with third-degree falsely reporting an incident, a misdemeanor, after Tarrytown police said he falsely reported that two men in black ski masks hit him on the head, put a knife to his throat and robbed him of all his money.
Pathak reported on Feb. 10 that he had been robbed while making a delivery on McKeel Avenue, police said.
According to police, they canvassed the area and told Pathak to go to police headquarters for further investigation. Police said they contacted Domino's after Pathak did not show up and discovered he had told another employee he'd planned to make up the robbery so he wouldn't have to pay money he owed Domino's.
Tarrytown police asked Ossining police to detain Pathak. When brought to Tarrytown police headquarters, police said Pathak admitted he falsely reported a crime.
Police also reported the following items:
- A man reported on Feb. 9 that someone had keyed his car while it was parked on Linden Place. Police found a 2-foot scratch on one side of the car.
- A car struck a light pole on Franklin Street on Feb. 9. The driver was taken to Phelps Memorial Hospital after he complained of back pain.
- A car struck a telephone pole on South Broadway on Feb. 8. Police report the driver suffered a small scratch to his head, but refused medical attention.
- A man left the CVS pharmacy at Bridge Plaza without paying for two cans of powdered milk, valued at $52, on Feb. 8.
- A North Washington Street resident reported on Feb. 7 that a man had been standing in front of her house and following her around town for no legitimate reason. Police advised the man that he would be arrested for stalking unless he stopped.
