TARRYTOWN, N.Y. If the weather cooperates, the Mason's Lot parking lot should be completed by the end of the year, Assistant Village Engineer Donato Pennella said at a recent Tarrytown Board of Trustees meeting.
Tarrytown trustees recently accepted a bid from Vernon Hills Contracting to complete the new municipal parking lot, which will add 24-25 parking spaces. The Mason's Lot is located off of South Washington St. behind the Main Street Firehouse.
Village Administrator Michael Blau noted that the project would cost the village $164,005. The Masons will be paying $25,900 toward a concrete retainer wall as part of their agreement with the village.
Current plans for the parking lot include grading, paving and drainage work. Lighting, a parking meter machine and a 6-foot high retainer wall have also been added.
The Masons asked for the wall to be added the project for security reasons in the original agreement. Blau said the village had suggested a privacy fence, but they said no, the fence was not acceptable.
Pennella estimated the project would take 90 days to complete.
The original budget for the parking lot was $74,00, according to Village Engineer Michael McGarvey. That cost estimate was done in March 2010 and includes only paving and painting the parking spaces, McGarvey said.
It's grown into a much, much larger project, McGarvey said.
