TARRYTOWN, N.Y. A 31-year-old man accused of taking part in a fight at the Bridge Plaza Shopping Center was arrested on felony DWI charges and a disorderly conduct charge, a violation, Tarrytown police report.
Jeffery A. Sweetnam had a laceration above his right eye when officers responded to a report of a dispute at the Bridge Plaza Shopping Center around 6:30 p.m. on May 24, according to the police report. Police impounded his car and helped the Tarrytown Volunteer Ambulance Corps transport him to the Westchester Medical Center for treatment.
Sweetnam swore at officers when questioned by officers at the shopping plaza and later refused to take a breath test at police headquarters, police said. They said a background check revealed Sweetnam had a DWI conviction within the past 10 years, which upped the charge to a felony.
Bail was set at $5,000 and Sweetnam was taken to the Westchester County Jail.

Allison S. Courtenay, 34, was charged with DWI, a misdemeanor, after police stopped her car on White Plains Road around 1:30 a.m. May 27. Courtenay refused a breath test at police headquarters.
The manager of Lefteris Gyro reported that someone damaged a marble table, the outside flower pot border and four flower pots on May 26.
A Tarrytown woman reported that her Social Security number had been used to file a tax return on May 25. Police filed an identity theft case.
A Tarrytown police officer noted on May 25 around 4 p.m. that the Irvington Volunteer Ambulance Corps ambulance had sideswiped a Bee Line Bus and another car near the South Broadway and Park Avenue intersection.
A Sunnyside employee reported on May 24 that a sign listing the hours of operation of Washington Irving's home had been stolen. The sign's value was reported to be $1,350.
A man who had chained his bicycle to a meter in the Tarrytown YMCA parking lot sometime during the winter reported on May 24 that his bike had been removed. Police said he found the lock on the ground. Police advised the man to check with the YMCA to see if they had removed the bike.
