A pilot program employed by a Northern Westchester school district has found that nearly 400 drivers illegally passed stopped school buses over the span of two months.

A former Northern Westchester town employee and an owner of a landscaping business were both indicted in an illegal dumping scheme that could cost the town up to $1.5 million.
Glenn Griffin, the owner of Griffin's Landscaping Corporation, and Robert Dyckman, the former assistant general foreman with the Town of Cortlandt, were both arrested on Thursday, July 21, according to Damian Williams, the United States attorney for the Southern District of New York.

ID Released For Westchester Woman Who Died After Driving Car Into Hudson
Police have released the identity of a woman who allegedly drove her car into the Hudson River.
Tiffany Kingwood, 37, of Verplanck, died after driving her vehicle into the Hudson River in Westchester.
The incident took place around 12:45 p.m., Friday, Oct. 18, near a riverside park in Verplanck, said Kieran O'Leary, spokesman for the Westchester County Police.
Kingwood was discovered in the car in about 10 feet of water by divers from Yorktown Heights, he said.

Firefighters from multiple municipalities battled a three-alarm blaze at a luxury condominium complex in Northern Westchester.
The fire broke out in a single unit at the Half Moon Bay complex in Croton, just before 8 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, and there were explosions reported, according to authorities at the scene.

Funeral Services Scheduled For Man, 30, Killed In Westchester Crash
Funeral services are planned for a 30-year-old Putnam County native who died following a motorcycle crash in Northern Westchester.
Matthew Hickey, of Verplanck, was killed while driving riding a 2016 Kawasaki motorcycle east on Kings Ferry Road in Montrose, a hamlet of Cortlandt, around 4:30 p.m. Thursday, June 27, during a crash with another vehicle, said New York State Police Trooper AJ Hicks.
The crash occurred when a 32-year-old Cortlandt woman, driving a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee west on Kings Ferry Road, turned left onto Hunt Avenue, but she did not see Hickey, Hicks said.
