One of the area’s biggest, busiest and most iconic YMCA locations is being torn down and replaced by apartments in White Plains. Last April, officials from the YMCA of Central and Northern Westchester announced that it would be selling its home at 250 Mamaroneck Ave. in White Plains. Local residents looking to beat the heat with the dog days of summer fast approaching will be able to do so at an area high school’s pool, which will be open to local families. The Mount Vernon School District announced that this summer, the pool at the high school will be open to host family laps and general swimming, beginning on Monday, July 9. The pool will be available to the public on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to noon. YMCA Plans To Sell Mamaroneck Avenue Buildings
One of Westchester’s biggest and busiest YMCA locations is selling its home. Officials from the YMCA of Central and Northern Westchester announced on Tuesday their intention to list its Mamaroneck Avenue home in White Plains for sale, with a plan to move to a non-facility YMCA model, which offers new services for members.
