Three Officers Hospitalized After Rescuing Dog From Long Island House Fire Three fast-acting police officers on Long Island were hospitalized for smoke inhalation after diving head-first into a fire to rescue a dog trapped inside an area home. First responders were dispatched to a Homer Avenue home in Deer Park at approximately 11:45 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 13, where there was a report of a dog trapped after a house fire broke out.
