Teen Found Months After Going Missing In Hempstead

A 15-year-old girl who was seen on Long Island before going missing for months has been found, authorities said.

On Thursday, April 4, nearly seven months after news of Merelyn Acosta’s disappearance, Nassau County Police announced that she had been located.

Fifteen-year-old Acosta had last been seen in Hempstead on the afternoon of Tuesday, Sept. 19.

At that time, she was walking southbound on Hewlett Street.

Police did not provide additional information, including where Acosta was found or her current condition.
