Alert Issued For Missing Teen Last Seen In Hempstead Police are asking for the community’s assistance in locating a teenager who was last seen walking on Long Island. Merelyn Acosta, age 15, went missing from Hempstead on Tuesday, Sept. 19, according to Nassau County Police. She was last seen walking south on Hewlett Street that day at approximately 2 p.m. Police say that at the time of her disappearance, Acosta was wearing a black shirt and black pants.
