A troubled man from River Edge who’d just been involved in a fender bender leaped to his death from atop the Palisades at the New York/New Jersey border on Wednesday, Dec. 13, authorities confirmed. The 38-year-old man had hit a couple of cars while trying to back out of a dead end near his son’s school. UPDATE: A Palisades Interstate Parkway police sergeant rescued two suspects from a burning SUV after it crashed into two other vehicles and overturned during a stolen-vehicle chase Thursday afternoon, authorities said. A group of suspects who'd become the subjects of a suspicious persons report fled the Englewood Cliffs Marina in a GMC Envoy shortly before 3 p.m., PIP Police Sgt. First Class Raymond Walter said. Palisades Parkway Police Rescue Suicidal Closter OD Victim In Locked Car At Alpine Lookout
Palisades Interstate Parkway police rescued a suicidal 50-year-old Closter man after he’d overdosed in a moving car at the State Line Lookout in Alpine. Officers pulled behind the victim’s locked 2018 Lexus, which backed into their patrol unit, disabling it, as they tried to wake him on Sunday, Lt. Jock Watson Jr. said. They eventually forced their way into the car, put it in park and got him out of the driver’s seat, Watson said.
