Hampton Driver Dies In Head-On Rt. 31 Crash: State Police (

A 56-year-old man was killed after his car collided with a truck on Route 31 in Hunterdon County on Monday, Nov. 27, state police said. Christopher Jones, of Hampton, was heading north in a Subaru when he entered the left lane going against the flow of traffic, and collided with a southbound Mack truck, head-on around 7:45 a.m. in Hampton near milepost 39, New Jersey State Police Trooper Troy McNair said. Jones died in the crash while the driver and passenger of the Mack tractor suffered minor injuries. The incident remains under investigation.

Coroner IDs Warren County Senior Killed In Route 31 Wreck
A Flemington man succumbed to his injuries after a car accident in Oxford Township on Tuesday, Nov. 21, according to officials. The crash happened on Route 31 near Mechanic Street around 4 p.m. and shut down through traffic on both lanes of the highway, Washington Township police said in a release. Ramesh R. Ramchandani, 82, was taken to St. Luke's Hospital in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, where he died from multiple blunt force injuries, said the Northampton County Coroner's Office. The manner of death was accidental, authorities added.

Driver, 38, Killed In 4-Car Crash On Hunterdon County Highway: State Police
A 38-year-old driver was killed in a four-car crash in Hunterdon County Thursday evening, August 17, state police confirmed. Rachael Macdonald, of Washington, was heading southbound in a GMC Acadia when the vehicle entered the northbound lanes and struck the left rear of a Chevy Express near milepost 36.6 in Lebanon Township around 4:50 p.m., NJSP SFC Philip Curry told Daily Voice. The crash occurred at the Route 31 intersection with Regional Road in Clinton Township just before 2:35 p.m., Hunterdon County Prosecutor Renée Robeson said in a Tuesday release. State troopers rescued a man who was holding a knife to his neck after fleeing from a traffic stop in Warren County. Troopers responded to a report of a driver who fled from Mansfield Township officers on Route 57, state police said in a release on Friday, Aug. 26. A 46-year-old police officer in New Jersey was arrested for driving drunk in a deadly crash earlier this year in Washington Township (Warren County), authorities said. Lawrence Stiscia, a patrol officer with the Franklin Township Police Department in Somerset County, had a blood alcohol concentration of 0.201 percent when he fatally struck a motorcyclist on March 18 on northbound Route 31, according to the Warren County Prosecutor's Office. Know anything? Police are seeking clues after a legendary elk statue that stands in front of a well-known charity lodge was vandalized with graffiti. The vandalism occurred in front of the Flemington Elks Lodge on Route 31 late on Saturday, May 7, according to Dave Norton, owner of The Corner boutique and photography studio located just down the road at 52 Main St. The word “devil” appears to have been scrawled across the statue in red paint. Two men from Newark were caught stealing cooking oil from a Warren County restaurant, authorities said. The suspects — ages 27 and 34 — stole bio-diesel cooking oil from Lost Ladies Grill on E. Washington Avenue in the borough before driving away just after 12 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 22, WTPD said. Hunterdon County high school graduate and junior firefighter Daniel Brandon Edelstein died at his home on June 11. He was 26. Born in New Brunswick, Edelstein played lacrosse and ice hockey at Hunterdon Central High School, where he graduated in 2013, his obituary says. A Hunterdon County woman was struck by a car and killed while crossing Route 31 in Hampton Borough Friday evening, state police said. Tara Temby, 46, was crossing the southbound lanes of the highway when she was hit by a Saturn driven by a 70-year-old Glen Gardner man near milepost 38.4 shortly before 7:30 p.m., NJSP Sgt. Philip Curry said. Temby, of Flemington, was pronounced dead at the scene, Curry said. A Warren County man once accused of trying to rob a Wildwood bank was found with heroin and other drug paraphernalia after leading police on a pursuit across Warren and Hunterdon counties, authorities said. A 17-year-old male from Washington sustained minor injuries in a Lebanon rollover accident, authorities said. Police responded to Route 31 north of Rocky Run Road around 9:15 Wednesday night where the 2002 Chevy Malibu had overturned, NJ.com reports. The driver was taken to Hunterdon Medical Center by Lebanon Township Volunteer Fire Department EMS with minor injuries, Lebanon police said. The crash is under investigation, however local police suspect rainy conditions may have been a contributing factor, NJ.com says.
