: Montclair Officer, Suspect Both Shot In Exchange Of Gunfire, Prosecutor Says
A police officer and suspect were both injured in a shooting on Monday, April 15, authorities said. An individual in a residence began shooting at a police officer on the 100 block of Forest Street, Thomas Fennelly, a spokesman for the Essex County Prosecutors Office said. The officer was hit but was able to return fire, striking the suspect, Fennelly aid. The officer and suspect were transported to a nearby hospital with non-life threatening injuries, Fennelly said. The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office is investigating, Fennelly said.

A skydiver was flown to an area hospital with injuries suffered in an accident at a New Jersey airport over the weekend. New Jersey State Police said only that the accident happened around 1:50 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 5 in a wooded swamp north of the Sussex County Airport in Wantage. The skydiver had crashed was airlifted to a nearby hospital for evaluation, New Jersey State Police said.

Belmar Police ID Drowning Victim From Labor Day Rip Currents
Belmar police have identified a swimmer who drowned Sunday evening, Sept. 3. Gilberto Mendez Jr., 42, of Roselle Park, was swimming off Fifth Avenue just after 6 p.m. when he began struggling in rip currents, Belmar Borough police said. Warren County School Bus Crash Sends Woman To Hospital, State Police Say
A Warren County crash involving a school bus and a Honda sent a woman to the hospital on Tuesday, Jan. 3, state police said. The bus collided with a Honda Accord on Brass Castle Road in White Township just before 3:55 p.m., Sgt. Alejandro Goez told Daily Voice. The woman driving the Honda was extricated and taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, Goez said. The school bus driver and passenger were unharmed. The scene was cleared by around 5 p.m., Goez said. The crash remained under investigation. No further details were released.

Parachuter Flown To Hospital Following Sussex County Skydiving Accident, State Police Say
A parachuter was flown to the hospital following a skydiving accident in Sussex County, state police said. The parachuter got stuck in power lines at the Sussex Airport in Wantage around 9:35 a.m. on Saturday, August 13, NJSP Trooper Charles Marchan told DailyVoice.com. Troopers rescue the parachuter from the power lines as a medical helicopter landed near the scene to assist with transportation. The parachuter was then flown to a nearby hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries, Marchan said. Additional details were not released.

Two cats and a dog died in a pre-Christmas fire that severely damaged a Bergenfield home. Firefighters who responded within three minutes were met by flames on the first floor of the 2½-story Lunn Avenue home shortly after 1 p.m., Bergenfield Fire Chief Edward J Kneisler III said. A man was airlifted to a local hospital after getting trapped under a tree in Sussex County Monday afternoon, state police confirmed.
