A 50-year-old pedestrian was struck and killed in a crash in Sayreville, authorities said. Police ID Pedestrian Struck, Killed After Climbing Over Route 9 Barrier In Central Jersey
Sayreville police have identified the 49-year-old pedestrian killed when he was struck by a vehicle after climbing over a concrete barrier on Route 9. Scott Munk, of Hamburg, NY, was struck at about 12:40 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 22 in the 900 block of Route 9 North as he tried to cross the highway, according to Sayreville Police Lt. James Novak. Munk had jumped the barrier and was struck by a passing vehicle, Novak said. The driver remained at the scene and has not been charged, the lieutenant said on Wednesday, Jan. 24. The crash remains under investigation.

Pedestrian Struck, Killed On Route 9 In Central Jersey: Sayreville PD
A pedestrian was struck and killed on Route 9 in Sayreville early Monday, Jan. 22, authorities said. The man's identification had not been released pending notification of kin, said Lt. James Novak, a Sayreville police spokesman. The fatal crash occurred at about 12:40 a.m. in the 900 block of Route 9 North near the Sunoco station, Novak said. The driver remained at the scene and no summonses had been issued, he said. The crash remains under investigation. Five people suffered minor injuries in a three-car crash on the Garden State Parkway in Middlesex County Tuesday morning, Jan. 2, state police said. The crash occurred at about 5 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 28, on Route 35 southbound near Fred's Bait & Tackle. A New Jersey man was found dead in a Pennsylvania lake after disappearing while swimming on Sunday, Aug. 6, officials told Daily Voice. Elisam Santana, 19, of Sayreville was swimming at Beltzville State Park in an unauthorized area of the lake, said Carbon County Coroner Gerald D. Jones Jr. Santana, the coroner said, had saved his 8-year-old cousin from drowning when he went under the water and never came back up.
